Bountiful, Utah
Bountiful is a city in Davis County, Utah, United States. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 41,301, a small increase over the 1990 figure of 37,544. The estimated population in 2004 was 41,173, a slight decrease from 2000. The city grew rapidly during the suburb growth of the late 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s.Though not technically in the same metropolitan area as Salt Lake City, it is in effect a bedroom community of Salt Lake City and the surrounding area. Many residents who work in Salt Lake choose Bountiful for its relatively laid-back and family-oriented lifestyle, as well as for lower home costs. Commuters pay for these benefits in frequent traffic bottlenecks between Davis and Salt Lake Counties, though the Legacy Highway and commuter rail projects are in place to ease these problems.Bountiful was settled on September 27, 1847, by Perrigrine Sessions and his family. It was Utah's second settlement after Salt Lake City.
